Mental performance coaching is like physical training for your mind. It's about teaching you the mental skills to perform your best when it matters most. We focus on building confidence, managing pressure, staying focused, and bouncing back from mistakes. It's not therapy; it's a practical, skill-based approach to get you playing at your peak.
Absolutely. Mental skills are not just for the pros—they're for anyone who wants to gain a competitive edge. Your mindset is the foundation of your performance, regardless of your age or skill level. The earlier you start training your mind, the bigger the advantage you'll have over your competition.
Sports psychology often addresses clinical issues and mental health concerns. While these are important, my coaching focuses on practical performance skills. I don't diagnose or treat mental health conditions; I provide you with tools and strategies to help you perform better on the field.
Just like physical training, mental training requires practice and consistency. Most athletes see a difference in their mindset and performance within a few weeks of consistently applying the skills we work on. The small shifts you make daily add up to big results over time.
I've lived the highs and lows of the game. I was a young athlete who learned firsthand how to overcome adversity after a major injury. I was resilient enough to go on and play in the WNBA, win a gold medal, and get inducted into the UCLA Hall of Fame. These experiences have taught me the power of a tough mindset. I'm not just a coach who reads from a book; I've been in your shoes, and I'm passionate about helping you get through the same challenges I faced.
This 60 minute session starts with the opportunity for "Gym Rats" -- our community members -- to post on the Win Wall some of the mindset victories they've had over the past week. This allows for the coach and the other members to celebrate you as a community. That's followed by a quick recap of the overarching "mental opponent" that has been discussed previously. Following that, the Coach will introduce or build upon the previous content, provide tools, do live coaching, introduce the guest speaker (once a month), and assign training reps (homework) for athletes to implement over the next week.
While my program is primarily for athletes, I believe that a supportive environment is crucial for success. In the future, I will be offering resources and sessions for parents and coaches to help them better support their athletes and create a positive, growth-oriented culture. If you can't wait, email me at [email protected]!
Starting January 2026, Gym Rats will have access to The Mental Gym, the online training platform full of resources, previously recorded calls, writing prompts, and additional coaching opportunities. Think of it as an online "gym" for your mindset. You'll be able to "lift weights" -- practice tough ideas -- and get the reps in that will make you mentally tough. Just like at a physical gym, there are trainers if you'd like to sign up for one on one coaching.
I am confident in my ability to help you. I'm dedicated to providing a valuable experience in The Mental Gym community. If, for any reason, you feel The Mental Gym isn't for you, there's no obligation to continue.
